Novell brings OS X eye-candy to the Linux Desktop

>> Novell has delivered to the Open Source community a new >>X subsystem called >>Xgl, which brings >> Os X Exposé features to the >> Linux Desktop.

The Cubic desktop switching and the nice window scalling and re-arrange to see them all at the same time - I have to admit that I'm addicted to this effect in the OS X - are some of the effects. Too bad the minimizing genie effect is not yet available, but who knows!

Will >>Apple design new kick ass eye-candy desktop animations? Who knows… But they could get multiple-desktop feature into exposé! I know there are at least two third party applications that delivers multiple desktops to >> OS X, >> Desktop Manager which is an old open source project , the last version is >>Tiger compatible although it's not being maintenned nor it's actually optimized for it, then you have >> You Control Desktops, although this one is closed source and you have to pay about 30$ - Ok, that's not much I know, but I'm used to open source software without the need of payment unless you want to donate.

Anyway if you want to try Xgl, you can download it from the >>CVS server at >>http://cvs.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/xorg/hw/xgl/?only_with_tag=xgl-0-0-1 .
